Taking the next step when stuck at home

Now that many of us are stuck at home indefinitely, it's time to do something productive for you. Besides the obvious exercise, meditation, and calming exercises, have you thought about using this time to tackle your digital collection. Now I'm not talking going from sorting photos to photo books, but could you earmark 30 minutes a day to cleaning off your digital storage, or maybe even more??

Recently I had a chance to work with a lovely, business woman and her family.  She was looking for a way to streamline her photos.  Her busy job, home life and kids had made it difficult, if not impossible, to figure out a way to manage her digital photo collection.  She had a great start.  She had an online storage system for managing her photos, and had began to organize them into years, and a few special occasions.  Both she and her husband took lots of pictures and contributed to their digital collection.  But like many of us moms and dads, her photo collection had grown and grown to the point of being unmanageable.

MyFotoPal came to the rescue!  At first we emailed back and forth and discussed what she was looking for.  From that point, we met up and she showed me what she had in her digital collection.  We figured out a way for me to be able to access it remotely, and began working on thinning her collection.    We decided to start on one year.  My Foto Pal went through and looked at every picture in her family’s collection and decide if the picture was worth keeping.  If it was, it stayed put, and if not, it was transferred to a folder for her to delete if she agreed.  After that first year as done, we discussed how things looked. We talked about the criteria that was used to determine photos to keep, what people in her life were really important to focus on, and discussed further organization once photos were removed.  It was amazing.  Does everyone really need 30 pictures of their family trying to pose in front of a new place? Do you take time to find the best one and delete the rest?  Are there pictures that are clogging up your collection that are of just “things"? I know I would have a lot on my phone if I didn’t regularly clean them out. Do you take the time to do that?  If not, we can help you!

During this time of stress, find some enjoyment in looking back at photos, remembering those less stressful times. That being said, do take photos now, because this will be a time to remember, too. Good luck! Let us know if you need help!
